Korean guitar whiz kid became an international star

by Knowing Korea

In the year of 2006, a clip of ten-year old Korean Jung Sung-Ha playing "Splash" on the guitar was uploaded on Youtube.

Before long the video went viral and was overwhelmed with comments praising the melody and Jung's incredible ability despite his young age. Internet became crazy. As praise for this first performance of his continued to come in, he started to cover other famous songs like “Let it be” by The Beatles and “Billy Jean” by Michael Jackson.

As these covers gained internatonal attention Jung even received praise for John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono who told him “I saw your cover of All You Need Is Love and it was awesome. John would have loved it.”

Now a young man in his early 20s, Jung Sung-Ha is still in the spotlight and now regularly collaborates with world famous artists, recently touring America and several South-East Asian countries. Beside K-POP singers, he’s the only Korean musician to break more than 100 million views on Youtube. 'jwcfree', the YouTube channel where he has uploaded clips of his guitar playing ever since 2006 has now reached almost 1.5 billion total views.
