Chungmu Gimbap

by KnowingKorea

Chungmu gimbap is a branch of the gimbap family, whose name comes from the southern cost town of Chungmu, now Tongyeong City. Unlike most other types of gimbap, Chungmu gimbap consists of finger-sized rice-only rolls served with marinated squid in red pepper sauce and radish kimchi. Though the recipe seems simple, there are not many restaurants in Seoul selling Chungmu gimbap, and many people agree that the best Chungmu gimbap is made in Tongyeong (Chungmu). Some actually go to Tongyeong to taste the freshly made Chungmu gimbap, others order directly from the restaurants in Tongyeong and receive the icebox-packed Chungmu gimbap delivered by courier.
