K-Pop star IU has a heart of gold to go along with her voice

by KnowingKorea

K-Pop star IU is recognized and adored both in Korea and around the world for her incredible singing ability and cute personality. But IU’s positive traits do not end there, as she is also known to regularly donate to help those less fortunate than herself.

Earlier this month, child welfare agency ChildFund Korea announced that IU had provided them with a 100 million won (~$92,000) donation to help support underprivileged children, under her real name Lee Ji-Eun. As amazingly generous as this donation is, it is not even her first, as she also provided the same amount back in 2015.

This is just one of many donations she has made this year, with other examples being the 20 million won (~$18,500) she provided to five needy university hopefuls to pay for their tuition and dormitory fees and her March 20 th donation of 50 million won (~$46,000) to the Seoul City Deaf Senior Citizens Support Center.

IU also has a habit of donating the proceeds of her solo concerts to charity, such as the 200 million won (~$184,000) she donated from her ‘Just One Step. That Much More’ concert to the families of the victims of the 2014 Sewol ferry disaster.
