A king of the Joseon Dynasty looked up to a great Buddhist monk as his mentor, trusting and following him in everything.
One day, while hosting a banquet with his supporters, the king made a joke to the monk, telling him he looked like a pig.
The monk laughed, and the King asked him "How do I look to you, master?"
The monk replied, "You look like a Buddha."
The king was taken aback and asked again, "I called you a pig, and yet you call me a Buddha. Why?"
To this, monk told him, "All look like a pig to a pig, a Buddha to a Buddha.
