A Buddhist teacher showed his disciples a basket containing flowers and asked them "What is this basket?"
They took all it for granted that it was, of course, a flower basket.
Next, the teacher removed the flowers from the basket and replaced it with trash, asking again, "What is this basket?"
The disciples answered with one voice.
"Master, it is a trash basket."
The teacher told his disciples.
"As you say, the nature of the basket changes depending on what is placed inside. If, like this basket, you fill your mind with fragrant flowers, you become a fragrant person."
